The Rosrkuge Cougar Classic is a community-wide basketball tournament for elementary and middles school teams. The tournament, began nearly four decades ago and has grown to a three week marathon of games played in TUSD High School Gymnasiums. This year, 25 schools are represented by teams in five divisions with games scheduled the first three Saturdays in February starting at 9:00 AM and continuing late into the evening.

For many of these players, this is the only chance they have to play indoors, on wooden floors with experienced referees. Participation in the tournament has become generational as sons and daughters of past participants now have their moment under the lights.

Your contribution will be used to pay for tournament expenses including facilities clean up, trophies and official's fees. We strive to keep the team fees as low as possible so all may participate. There are no participation fees for individual players.

The mission of the Cougar Classic is to provide an exciting event utilizing both quality facilities and experienced high school and college referees in a safe atmosphere of good sportsmanship.

The tournament was founded in 1983 by Dale López who remains the tournament director. Dale is a member of the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame and Coaches for Charity.
